Who wants to learn the Trickeration, in honour of the late Queen of Swing, Norma Miller? It’s a really fun routine, and yes it’s tricky! Once we’ve learnt and practiced it, we’ll film ourselves dancing it, to send to The Global Trickeration Project – lots of scenes around the world will do the same, and the results will be shown altogether at the International Lindy Hop Champs in celebration of what would have been Norma’s 100th birthday 🎉
The Trickeration is a routine that Norma “borrowed” from the chorus dancers at Harlem’s Apollo theatre in the 1930’s. Norma referred to this as “the last example of the great and true jazz done by the chorus girls of Harlem” and it has earned its rightful place in the canon of iconic jazz dances. It’s not called Trickeration for nothing!
Join us to learn the routine from top to bottom, and run it and polish it, before we film it towards the end of the month.
13h00-14h30: Learn the routine
15h00-16h00: Practice & polish
You are welcome to join for just the first part to learn the routine (R120 or two class cards), or just the second part to practice it if you already learnt it (R70 or one class card), or both (R150 or two class cards)!
